My Birthday

Hey, so yes, I am finally getting around to talking about my birthday:)

If you know me at all, I love my birthday and I love getting presents and I absolutely love getting attention and lots of free food on my birthday. I also love making it a whole week party and making sure it is all about me. Haha...

So, this year was a little different. I wasn't in the mood to celebrate but I was still in the mood to share it with friends, just not so many. I know I am loved and I have conditioned all my friends over the years to celebrate this week with me haha but this year, I wanted low-key and some Mexican Food. So, I asked my friend Aly if she wanted to head across the border with me to have some Mi Mexico :)

We had been making plans to go to this restaurant for months and finally, my birthday, was the day that both of our schedules worked together. It was great. I picked her up at her place, and her husband and her daughter were staying home, it was just us girls. We both have Nexus and so it was uber fast going across the border. The border guard didn't even say Happy Birthday, like c'mon! haha. We headed down to Bellingham and went straight to Mi Mexico.

So, here we are, it's St. Patrick's Day and we are in a Mexican restaurant, needless to say, the place wasn't too full but that meant fast and great service. I love getting free things just because it's my birthday and so Aly casually mentioned that it was my birthday to our waitress...and nothing. Apparently, they don't do anything special for people during their birthday:( Yet, the food was fantastic!! I was wearing my Green Birthday sash from a couple of years ago, a white with Green St. Patricks Day 2009 lettering T-Shirt from Old Navy (birthday gift from 2009) and jeans. Aly wanted me to stand out but I was a little too subtle I guess because no one noticed it was my birthday :( I know, this is what I wanted but still, old habits die hard.

After Mi Mexico, we did a little shopping and I bought 3 pairs of shoes for 30$ at payless...they are soo pretty. I could stare at my new grey heels for hours, literally, they look that good. I also bought a St. Patty's day cup from Old Navy, they have a lot of St. Patty's day merchandise there, so I think I am going to make that a tradition. So, it was 9 and the mall was closing and on our way out we hear, hey you ladies want some pizza? We look, and the pizza guy is trying to get rid of his pizza so he doesn't have to throw it away. So, Aly and I took some and she told him it was my birthday so he gave me a ton of garlic breadsticks as well. I think I am going to make that a tradition as well. haha jk. I was able to get free stuff for my birthday, on my birthday and that made me feel happier, like all was right in the world. haha. Then we headed to Applebee's for dessert.

Now, I was feeling okay after Mi Mexico, not too full, just right and plus I had leftovers for the next day. Yet, Applebee's has a Strawberry lemonade and these 1.99 "dessert shooters" which I figured, I could eat two of those easily. Wrong...I didn't finish one thing I ordered because everything was sooo rich and too sweet. I was basically a glutton and I paid dearly for it. I still can't think about it...haha.

Overall, that night was a great night and we had a lot of fun just hanging out, eating, shopping and chatting. There was a lot of laughing as well. I am so glad that she came on my birthday adventure with me...Thanks Aly, you're awesome!!

Later that week, Gab, Pete, Amy B., Nick and I went over to Chris & Amy's for a birthday cake that Amy made for my birthday and we just hung out and talked. So casual and relaxing. Ian didn't cry when he heard my voice...always a plus :)

Then near the end of the month, Amy B. gave me a haircut, for free because it was for my birthday and it turned out fantastic! I have swoopy bangs, layers and my hair feels and looks so healthy! Thanks Amy B.!

Overall, this year was perfect and it turned out exactly as I had hoped. I think next year will be "Destination Birthday" - any ideas?
