Best kept secret...shhh..

Everyone knows that I absolutely hate/detest/despise driving in traffic, rush hour, bumper-to-bumper any sort of traffic that makes me feel crowded/anxious...especially Hwy 1, going over the Port Mann. That is the only downfall to the Temple location but I have found one wonderful solution, which is Hwy 10. It does have lights but a lot of good driving in between, wide lanes, not a lot of traffic and I get to go over the Alex Fraser.

Tonight, there was a special Van. Stake RS conference in the new Chapel behind the Temple. I drove out using Hwy 1...regretting it the whole time, even though it only took me 20 min but if you get stuck behind a slow car, you are done! The hwy is not wide enough nor do I feel safe passing cars like I normally do because seriously, Canadian drivers are the worst. Anyone, heard of turn signals...upkeeping your headlights or brake lights, or just learning how to merge properly or getting out of the right lane to let those merging in, do it smoothly. Where is the courtesy and common sense? It especially drives me crazy when I am on the I-5 in the states because I truly think that they are still driving in KM. haha.

Okay -Happy thoughts...After the fireside, I again foolishly had turned right to get onto the #1 but as I was driving towards the exit, it was backed up over the overpass two blocks before and thankfully there was the 92nd Ave road, where I could turn left. I turned left, thinking I would do a u-turn and then head to Hwy 10 when i decided to follow a car that was in front of me and they were driving down 92nd...so I thought, hey, what can it hurt, I'm driving steadily, no other cars and I am parallel to the hwy, let's see where this leads. It led me all the way to the Fraser Hwy, where I turned right, drove a couple of blocks and saw that 152nd intersected, so I had the choice to get back on the #1 or keep driving Fraser Hwy and then turn right on 140th to the Patullo and then I'm home. I stuck with the Fraser Hwy and because of this wonderful new route, I was home in 30 mins. I had to only stop at 4 red lights (the rest were green but very few), and 2 stop signs...it was wonderful and a smooth ride. I am so thankful for the blessing to be able to know directions and because of this, I am able to avoid unavoidable frustration and just enjoy the drive.

So, remember those directions next time you are in Langley and need to get back and do not want to deal with the #1. Yay!!
