It was horrific because these protestors are clearly out of hand and ridiculous! Seriously, smashing the windows and splashing paint does nothing but show that you are two bit thug. What point is trying to be made exactly. Also, as you cross the street on Georgia & Granville, "Stolen Land" is spray painted on the ground. Are you kidding me?? There are actually Native protestors as well that are just NOW, complaining about the downtown core?Protestors are mindless and spineless. It doesn't take much courage to stand in a crowd and shout, nor does it take much to smash a window. Martin Luther King Jr., Martin Luther and Rosa Parks...they were not about violence to get their point across but about dignified rebellion/revolution if you will. I know that Martin Luther King Jr. had the Freedom March but he did not instigate violence. I am not saying that the points of the Olympic Protestors are not valid, but they have seriously underminded their cause by acting in a very rash and stupid fashion. I didn't show the woman's face who had made and is holding the sign but I made sure, as well as a lot of other people, that we wholly agree with her! Some of us even clapped...well I caught on too late, so I only clapped a little. By this time, we had already walked around most of the Olympic free sites and so I have no idea when she made this sign and how long she was standing there but the guy talking to her was having a bit of a debate with her. C'mon!!...and yes, I went as far back as Martin Luther...he's a good man! Hence, one of the reasons why we have the church today!
PS> They also smashed a window at TD Bank. Like, Hellooo...RBC is the one Sponsoring the Olympics not TD. I guess we should be flattered that they thought so but no, they are certified morons. I mean, we are the better bank but really.
